Murid-Murid Yesus Buta Huruf? Analisis Istilah Agrammatoi dan Idiotai dalam Kisah Para Rasul 4:13
Abstract
Abstract. The writing of this article intended to answer the accusation that Jesus' disciples were illiterate and therefore could not have written his Gospel. The accusation is based on the statement in Acts 4:13 which refers to Peter and John as "unlettered" (agrammatoi) and "ordinary" (idiotai). For that, the researcher will provide an analysis of both the internal and external aspects of the Bible that indicate that Peter and John could read and write. The results of the study show that the statement that Peter and John were ordinary and unlettered does not mean illiterate, but rather a term that has the meaning of Peter and John's status as people who never studied academically and formally in Jewish schools, and their social status as lay people who did not have a religious position. Thus, it indicates that Jesus' disciples, especially Peter and John, were the authors of the books in the New Testament.
Abstract.
