THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT: SEBUAH SEJARAH DAN PERKEMBANGANNYA

Abstract

History has been rolling on. Some theologians still hold on their pardigm, and not to see clearly yet. Since C. Peter Wagner entitled the study of Church Growing, Signs and Wonders, and The Gospel of God’s Kingdom which created by John Wimber, as THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, the history of church has been shifted. THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT is the third movement of Holy Spirit in church after Classical Pentacostalism and Charismatic. THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT has reconciled the Classical Pentacostalism with Traditional Evangelism. The Classical Pentacostalism stated that glossolaly is the first sign of Holy Spirit Baptism; it came to be a prime doctrine which they kept, and at once judging the Traditional Evangelism, that they had never been baptized in Holy Spirit. The dispute between them how has been reconciled by THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, taught that glossolaly is one of spiritual gifts was given by Holy Spirit when someone came to believe in Jesus. Today, both Traditional Evanglism and Pentacostalism admit glossolaly as a charismatic gift, equal to the others. THE THIRD WAVE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT also taught that spiritual gifts were granted is as the way of God to draw people coming to Him. The gifts were listed at 1Corinthians 12:7-10. There was no specification among the gifts; not is more prominent, neither most. All are used for making a spectacular church growing. However, can church benefitted those gifts? The history kept on rolling, denomination such Pentacostalism and Charismatic still been existed, like Evangelism, Baptist, Luther,and Calvinism. God has reconciled the doctrines among them. How should we stand on and take a role in the development is a different thing. However, some churches which mentioned at last has changed their paradigm by changing the service, although not using the manifestation of gifts yet.
